11.02.2018 Welcome to the Neighborhood *
Hey Now! Fridays are the best. Even if you have to get up and go to work, it's still Friday after all. Technically the weekend. But if you aren't working Friday and happen to be in Vegoose, well that just means it's time to find another gear. In my case this morning means going Urban. Upper Couponville. DTLV. Canopy Central. The best time to go too since the crowds are elsewhere nursing their hangovers and other types of ego brusings.
Away Silver Bullet!!
By the light of a silvery moon we danced up I-15. The construction of I-15, the Ravioli Bowl, and Main St. is set to continue till the year 2071. From the brake lights abounding all around they are right on schedule. I somehow manage to make it unscathed. I usually hit the MSS surface lot but I think I'll try the Fremont for a change. I pull in under the neon that says . I proceed down a slope and into the underworld of the Fremont. There's cars parked sort of haphazardly everywhere. And no place to turn around. I go down another level because there's really nothing else I can do. It's the same way on this level too. Then it hits me- this is where they park the valet cars. That means that at any moment a valet attendant might fire up on of these parked cars and scream off. Time to vacate the premises. I turn around carefully and find my way out. I still can't figure out why I just drove right into that part of the garage. There should have been valet personnel all over me. I try the California self park. At least all of this garage is above ground.
Always do this
Much better. I just have to get my ticket validated on the way out. There's no Emerald, the Shiny Green card parking around these parts. I walked thru the Cali to check out some of the renovations. The old Mission is looking spiffy. Still some changes being made.
Casinos make even tall ceilings feel lower.
Fun Fact: If you look at the street view on Google Maps of Ogden Ave.& 1st.St., you can watch the Las Vegas Club magically appear. Just move the cursor up 1st.St. toward Fremont. I got as close to the construction as they would let me.
I need a Vital Vegas drone
bbq 18 new GG too
Well the Stevens boys sure are changing the landscape around this end of FSE. The name of the new resort is to be revealed shortly. Personally I like Granddissimo. Apparently Derrick doesn't. The boys also put a bunch of our money into the Golden Gate.
not too sure about this
This has always been my favorite part of the GG
I duck back in to the Cali. I've come armed with both coupon books. All 3 Boyd's props have coupons in the ACG for 5x points. But the desk isn't open yet. So I take a stroll down Fremont.
My favorite street corner
One of the things I really like about FSE is the interplay between the architecture of the canopy and the other buildings. Next stop is the Four Queens to check out the Silver Strike machines.
wish all casinos had this policy
The Four Queens always comes out with a new issue of strikes each Halloween. I want to check out a couple of the machines for Redcaps. While I was perusing for Redcaps, I couldn't help but notice these 2 guys playing a couple of the strike machines.
Cheers Mates!
These 2 young lads are Steve and Charlie from Essex. United Kingdom. They are in the Silver Strikers Club. Now I like strikes, but these guys came a really long way to play these machines. They had scored a couple of blue and redcaps earlier. I wish them luck.
the infamous Scott Roeben 4Q 5. WoF
the lonely avenue.
I will be back to try some strikes later. I'm headed down Fremont to the Fremont. Maybe the Bconned Club is open. It is. I activate the 5x points thingy and am off to the races. I spot a B7's Prog. that's 1571.69. Insert coin- and end up in Mayberry.
Next!
I had pretty good luck on these the other day. Will the magic hold???? Roll them varmints Jim!
400. profit
still haven't eaten here
Hit it James......
not much
2219 coin in yield
While I was checking out my tears I was offered a free buffet. Why not? So I printed it out and shuffled over for something or another.
Looks like the lonely diner table is my lucky number too. Ignacio was spot on taking care of me. The selection was much better than the last time I had breakfast here. Time to move on down the street. Let's take a walk up to the ElCo.
Always an interesting walk. Inside the ElCo I was met by the whiff of some kind of air freshener trying it's best to cover up too many years of smoke, beer, whiskey, and desperation. It didn't work. Over to Jackie's Club to exchange the LVA for some FSP. Pick a card...
score!
I obviously am enamored with Vegas history. With my new found wealth I head for the only machine I am interested in in this joint. The Silver Strike. It was broken the last time I tried to play it. It's in fine working order now and soon spits out a strike. New one too!
LiB as they say
I also won another strike, one of the older ones so I ended up with a 10. profit plus 2 new strikes for the collection. Let's take a walk.
not really sure what this is....
But first let's delve a bit more into this curiosity.
I present the venerable Neonopolis. Yawn.
Ah yes, the Downtown Grand. I have a 10. FSP and a 10. MP thingy. I played some low roll Buffalo for an 11. profit. Then bought in for 10. at BJ and lost. That's another buck for the BR. Next stop- The D. The offering here is a 25. match play. Let the magic happen.
12 Red works
Looks like the Sigma Derby has some 21st century competition. Or not, considering it was packed and Fortune Cup was empty.
nice view
I take my 50. profit over to the Four Queens. I use a coupon for 10. FSP and ease over to the Silver Strike machines. I look for the Brits, but don't see them. There's one machine with a recap near the bottom of a tube. Insert FSP. nope. Insert 20. nope. Insert 20.- I finally scored a strike. But it cost me 30. And it's not a redcap.
Despina- Goddess of Winter
Let's try to cross Jim-
They are just about to start the FSE Canopy Renovation. Taking the canopy to the next dimension. Should be interesting. I might even have to come visit at night for a change. I had my usual ducky pic taken, and used another 10. FSP thingy while I waited. Nope.
I must have 6 of these....
My last stop downtown is the Golden Gate for a 25. MP. Since the flavor of the morning for winning seems to be roulette, I go with it.
31 black -winner!
I hit the cage and walk. This has been a nicely profitable morning. Over to the Cal, I'm not really sure about paying for parking. The front desk is actually in the rear next to the self park, so I ask there and get my ticket validated. Silver Bullet flies yet again.
I just hope this ends up at the Neon Boneyard
Lots of rumors floating around about the sale of the Rio. Even talk about the property becoming an MLB stadium site. Scary. Then the Orleans would more or less be bookended by stadiums. Ugh. I worry like that. Back at the Ranch I head for a kiosk to see the totals.
shedding
I go aloft to sing to my Sweet Ti "Welcome....to our Weekend" and finally get her away from work. Bo and Zig are coming over in a bit for our dinner. Damn I miss having her here. She is a real trooper taking care of everything while I go play. And following along the notes I tried B7's and STP 3 lines, lost my ass. Then I saw the Texas Tea. Slant machine too, which I like as long as the reflection isn't bad. I also remember that I read somewhere that these 9 line machines are the best to play. At .25 denomination. Insert coin and Jim-
The article said that your BR should last longer on average with this game. It sure worked for me. I pushed but shed a few tears.
Daily points = coin in
Today's locals, The Tocynskis should be here in a few minutes, so I try the NS B7's prog in front of the buffet. I always forget about these machines. I inserted hundy twice but received a spanking. The kids call and we meet over by the Alligator Band.
Ziggy is not happy with my pic. "Let me tell you something, you cut off my head. Here, THIS is how you do it!". He whips his phone out.
"See?"
We had a lovely dinner at the Prime Rib Loft. No frillin' food porn this time. We just ate and mostly talked about Sweet Ti. I really treasure our friendship with Bo and Ziggy. The comp covered the bill. They didn't really want to hang around as the place was getting the Friday night crowd. I walked them out front and to their car. We bid adieu till next we meet dear friends. Mayhaps in Florida or even Virginia. I go back to the shedding barn. Ziggy came bearing gifts tonight too. He gifted me a bracelet he made from Polish materials.
It's the fat green one. He gave me the black one the other day at his house. #Vegas Strong that one says. The other is VMB.
I tried some .10 Money Storm but that didn't work. Think I'll try some VP. All this slottin' is eating up my FSE profit from earlier. I land on some Triple Double Bonus.
And then it ate the above proceeds. Pretty gosh darn quickly too. The City of Volatility. Then I hit my 4. Buffalo and cough up another couple hundy. Now I'm into the BR. I go thru another on something or another and run out of bullets. Time to call it a night. Busy day.
Totals- Fremont- 422 tears Orleans: 470 tears
893 tears shed
